The week in Winnipeg took a turn for the worse as my water pump blew up in my car and needed replacement. My time in the city was short and I lost 2 days related to the car and one thing else. So, when I went on Friday July 28th … I took along the computer and monitor and laser printer and about 16 hours work.

It turned out that I forgot that my DOS based G/L program uses LPT1 and I only brought the USB cable for connection. To print documents, I had to print to a print file, then load up in a windows based notepad (WORD) and print from there. Then, there was issues for the documents that had to be printed in compressed print – I couldn’t get it to print condensed. As an alternative, I was able to print the condensed reports in the print file through the window based program in landscape mode, but it didn’t keep the page breaks consistent.

As a result – I just ended up doing about 2 hours of billable work. Oh well – live and learn ….
