Welcome To Our New Flooring! Main Floor – October 2005

Alternatively, this entry could also be titled …

Goodbye 2005 Winter Vacation!

We have been thinking about this for a while now. We moved into our condominium in November 1997. We have not done anything with the flooring, except in our back room where we put laminate flooring in .. the kind that has everything in-one-piece from Home Depot …

Well, this past summer it was time to plan for new flooring. All the reasons made sense, which would include, but not be all inclusive …

* The dog keeps peeing on the carpet in the same general spots and it smells
* It’s ugly! The carpet is about 25 years old
* Vaccuum’ing is such a chore

Of course, good reasons NOT to get new flooring were always in the back of our minds …

* It’s expensive – this time we’ll have someone ELSE do it – all at once
* Yvonne likes the room temperature cool .. (I would have fireplace on all the time if I had my way) .. Am I going to have to wear slippers now?

So – check out our Photo Gallery …. rather than trying to get a good picture .. everytime I was getting coffee I took my camera out and snapped pictures .. it’s all there .. and I separated into three categories …..

(A) PICTURES BEFORE RENOVATIONS
(B) PICTURES DURING RENOVATIONS
(C) PICTURES AFTER RENOVATIONS

Some Teaser Pictures

We redid the kitchen, that had 12 inch peel-n-stick tiles and extended it into our living room where we normally eat. Believe it or not .. the entire main floor vinyl is 1 piece, plus the stairs plus the bathroom .. I was out at the post office and wished I’d taken pictures of them laying down this huge 1-piece cut

Our living room is sunken, and we replaced the crappy carpet with laminate .. the color tone matches somewhere inbetween the darker ceiling wood lines and the back room original laminate we laid down ourselves a few years back in the late ’90’s

When you come in the entrance, we decided that because you see the stairs on the right, we would extend the vinyl up to the top floor of the stairs. Next year, in 2006 .. our plan is to do the top floor with new carpetting all around, except the bathroom .. (you heard it here first!)

“The Ottawa Wedding #1” Trip – June 26, 2003 to June 30, 2003

“THE OTTAWA WEDDING #1” TRIP
June 26, 2003 to June 30, 2003

Yvonne, Hart and Herbert (Yvonne’s dad) flew together to Ottawa, Ontario to attend Stephen Smith & Christine Chambers’ wedding at Saunders Farm, in Munster Ontario. We stayed at the Algonquin College Residence, went site seeing to Parliament building and took an amphibus tour, and basically walked around downtown and toured the markets! We also visited Yvonne’s relatives and had a splendid time! Hart was impressed with the Transit system and Yvonne really impressed with the beauty of Ottawa!

We call this “The Ottawa Wedding #1” because, well .. we hope there will be a wedding #2 with Stephen’s twin brother Derek. 🙂

*** Both of our ‘tourist’ pictures and Steve & Christine’s wedding appear in our Photo Gallery

On that day as well, we signed a 4-year lease on a new 2002 Honda Civic LX. We registered it and picked it up on Wednesday at noon and drove out to Falcon Lake Resort Hotel in the Whiteshell for a few days in the “Couples Room”, including Hot Tub! it was nice, the hotel had a restaurant, we walked, had time together, played on the waterslide, drove out to HART’s old cottage at Jessica Lake, visited West Hawk Lake, and then it was time to go.

“SHOOTING STAR CASINO” TRIP
May 17, 1997 to May 19, 1997

We drove south of the Canadian Border into Mahnomen, Minnesota USA to stay at the Shooting Star Casino and Hotel. It’s about a 4 hour drive from Winnipeg. It’s really a nice quaint hotel and entertainment center out in the middle of nowhere, on an Indian Reserve. I believe we made some spending money on the trip and detoured around to Fargo, North Dakota and Grand Forks before heading up back to Winnipeg.

HART and YVONNE’s Vacations

HARTandYVONNE.com VACATIONS

I would like to document all our vacation trips here to remind us that we NEED more vacation trips!

We got Zeus the Cat on June 10, 1998 (Born October 5, 1997) and Maxxie the Papillon on February 28, 1999 (Born April 27, 1998) .. It makes sense why vacations are dwindling. We also got Sophie the Papillon on September 7, 2002 (Born July 20, 2002). Here are our vacations in reverse order!
